We are a small property which puts some people off but one of our boundaries is the Balonne River which provides good camping.
People are also welcome to camp in the shearing shed. We also have accommodation if people don't want to camp.
As with a lot of areas in Qld and most of NSW, we are in a roaring drought so a distraction of talking to visitors and an alternative source of income is a great relief.
People are welcome to bring dogs as long as they are under control and tied up when not in use.
People are also welcome to bring bikes as long as they don't chase stock.
Located on the border of the southern side of the Balonne river. The property has been in the family since 2010 and is flat plain with Belah trees. The property has 3 dams.
Facilities available during the stay are camping or accommodation with bathroom, outdoor wood stove. BBQ / Weber with basic kitchen.
Sleeping quarters are 2 bedroom and a sleep out in a quarters separate from main house with 1 double bed and 2 single beds.
Mobile service is available but it varies with Telstra being the only mobile phone carrier on the property.
There is firewood available so you don’t need to bring your own. Just ask where to collect your firewood.
You can sight in and target shoot on the property with the owner asking you to pay respect to the livestock and know your surroundings and where the bullet will travel.
If accommodation is requested, linen and towels will be provided. If camping, obviously bring all your own equipment. All food and any extras will need to be brought.
Surat was the last Cobb * Co station in 1924. There is a Cobb & Co museum in Surat with an annual fishing competition on the Balonne River.
There are pets on the property with horses and a poddy calf. They also have working dogs.
Summer rainfall is 30 – 200mm, mainly from September – march. April – august is less than 50mm monthly. Summer temperature is 20 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius. Winter temperature is -5 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius.
This depends on what people are after. But the best access is during August in the winter months.
There is not any extra fees for trophies on this property.
The property owners are happy to have a chat when and if not both parties are not busy.
You can get additional supplies from Surat which is around 25Kms from the property. In Surat there are 2 small shops, a pub, a restaurant, a coffee shop and a post office. The petrol station is 24 hours card operated. The petrol station supplies petrol, diesel and gas.
