Westmar #4 is a 19,000 acre property that is half forest, half open with lots of melon holes and shade lines which create a perfect habitat for game.
The property spans two sides of the highway in equal portions, both sides running cattle. There are 11 dams on the property with a major creek flowing through the northen side with semi permanent water holes.
There is the orignal homestead as well as managers house and Shearers accomodation where Hunters come to stay.
The shearers QRTS have been transformed into shooters QRTS over the years with mod cons such as electrcity, running water, kitchen appliances but still retain the historical feel of the traditional rustic shearers QRTRS with a stand alone shower and toliet block 20mts away.
No need to bring firewood – the property has available firewood lying around the property for you to collect.
You can sight your firearms and target shoot at your campsite, of course observing all safety precautions.
Westmar #4 is mostly semi open, to brigalow melon hole to pine forest. No 4WD needed to access the propert and really only needed when wet.

The most important rule above all else is to have a clean vehicle on arrival for maintaining biosecurity. This is very important and dirty vehicles which pose a biosecurity risk will be turned away by our manager. Secondly paddocks with stock in them are to avoided, these will be pointed out by our manager. Gates must be left as found and accomodation left in a neat and clean state and a general respect for the property, owners and managers to be adhered to.
Rules on the property are simple – follow and read the conditions for property access book. Common Sense – leave gates as found, no shooting at or anywhere near grazing cattle, or on ridgelines, respecting property boundaries, avoid driving on near crops and gardens. Hunt respectfully. Take all rubbish with you to the designated area, obey any fire restrictions especially total fire bans. No hooning vehicles or motorcross bikes. Only vehicles allowed are those used in hunting.
Please avoid the following: leaving rubbish, shooting near dwellings, driving on track after rain. Over shooting (e.g. firing off a lot of shots at game) Leaving gates opened and not latching gate properly. Shooting fence posts and signs.
Property owners pet hates are leaving Gates open, leaving rubbish behind including ciggerrate butts laying on the ground. Disrespectful behaviour towards property, infrastructure and manager. Unwashed vehicle on arrival posing biosecurity threat.
Westmar #4 - this is a third generation property that has been in the family for 85+years, originally bought pre WWII by my Grandfather and at the time was a very successful sheep station. We now run a successful Beef cattle operation.
Visitors enjoy the short 4hr drive from Brisbane to escape city life and enjoy the serenity of life in the bush for a weekend or week. Counter pub meals available 15 mins away at the local pub which is a nice break from cooking.
Hunters enjoy the properties proximity to Brisbane. Plentyful game.
For those not interested in hunting, there is a large dam 400m from the accomodation that is ideal for swimming and fishing. Birdwatchers would also enjoy their stay with plenty of birds to spot.
