Dirranbandi is a town and locality in South West Queensland, the area has a population of approx 711. The town is located on the Castlereagh Highway and the Balonne River.
The area experiences population variations as seasonal workers come to work on the many cotton fields. Due to the low annual rainfall, irrigation is used extensively in farming. Cubbie Station, the largest cotton producing property in the southern hemisphere, is close to Dirranbandi. Dirranbandi has a hospital, library, civic center, swimming pool, parks, and a showground.
The property is approx 35 Km east of Dirranbandi and 85 Km south of St George and has a mixture of timbered rocky ridges, open grazing, black and red soil cultivation country. Livestock and dryland cropping is the properties main source of income.
The property has good decent roads and close to town. The property is open to both shooters and bowhunters where you can target Foxes, Cats, Pigs, hares and rabbits. There is a restriction on Goats.
You don't need a 4wd to access the property, but it will be much easier to get around the property in a higher vehicle with good clearance.
Arrive anytime, as long as you arrive at the agreed time, the property owners work on this property, so arriving at the agreed time helps everything run smoothly.
Average temperature ranges throughout the year are - Winter temperature ranges from 2 – 23 and Summer 20 – 40+.
The best time to book this property is anytime. Summer if you don’t mind the heat, winter if you don’t like the heat. After harvest is usually a really good time to hunt for pigs on the cultivation country, timeframe is normally mid - late November through to January. It is also worth noting that this property does not charge trophy fees.
If guests would like to have a chat the property owners are happy to oblige but if they want to keep to themselves that is fine as well. They will go through any other rules when you arrive and to keep on their good side - just follow their rule. Basically its all just common sense.
Accommodation is neat and tidy with the following facilities available foryou during your stay: shower, hot water, power, fridge, wood BBQ, toaster, kettle, microwave, beds, mattresses, table, chairs, wood stove, lawned area.
The sleeping quarters are nothing flash but they are clean and tidy, shaded with no burrs.
Mobile phone reception is patchy on the property with no mobile service available at the hut.
There is heaps of firewood available for you to collect for your campfire.
No sighting in of firearms or target shooting at the hut or the house paddocks, heaps of room to do this away from the houses.
Bring with you everything that isn’t listed above but most of all …………… bring your common sense.
When wives and children come along they usually enjoy yabbying, bushwalking, bonfires, camping, relaxing, toasting marshmallows, day trip to Lightning Ridge opal fields or water park, tours of Cubbie Station available through Dirranbandi Caravan Park, good fishing at Thallon and Dirranbandi.
The property owners have heaps of animals that guests can meet and feed - poddy calves, pigs, chooks, peacocks, geese, turkeys, horses, camels and two Highlander cows.

For each non-hunter attending any of our properties, it is compulsory to be covered by current comprehensive public liability insurance. This is a non-negotiable requirement and forms part of your booking contract. Similar to having travel insurance to go on holidays. This insurance is available by being a current member of an AHO, the SSAA or the Shooters Union before your booking is approved.
We also recommend current ambulance cover.
You enter these properties fully aware of the risks involved and do so at your own risk.

Helmet and protective gear to be worn whenever operating these vehicles.
We recommend the Yassi Course or some form of accredited training be taken prior to using any bikes, quads/ATV or buggy’s on the property.
Bikes, buggy’s and Quads/ATV are to be taken onto properties entirely at your own risk.
No responsibility will be taken. Assess your own insurance for these recreational vehicles.
You release and indemnify IHP and all related parties against any claim of any kind whatsoever.
